Niccolò Ferrari, born in Verona in 1983, holds a degree in Law from the University of Verona. A member of the Literary Society of Verona, he has devoted many years to the study of the American Civil War (1861–1865), particularly the Confederate States of America. In this field, he has collaborated with Corriere Canadese, an Italian-language daily newspaper published in Toronto, for a series of articles on Italians involved in the Civil War (2011), with National Geographic Education (2011), with the literary magazine Il Corsaro Nero (2021), and with Qui Filosofia (2025). In 2005, he founded the historical reenactment association 14th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, Company G, with which he took part in the reconstruction of the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for the 150th anniversary (2013). He is also the author of the historical essay The Lost Civilization: The Confederate States in the American Civil War (2013). He collaborated on the documentary Tra veleni in bianco e nero. Dentro l’American Civil War (Among Poisons in Black and White: Inside the American Civil War, 2015) and on a battlefield preservation project with the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association (2017). He was the only Italian involved, together with, among others, the Pulitzer Prize winner James M. McPherson and the historian Harold Holzer, one of the foremost American experts on Abraham Lincoln. For Delmiglio Editore he published “The Confederacy Trilogy”: Sul treno per Richmond. Historical Novel on the American Civil War (2017), Vicksburg sul far della sera. The Confederacy Trilogy was republished in 2024 by the publisher Genius Loci. In 2025, Cierre Edizioni published his monumental essay The Confederate States of America: The Military History, a work that analyzes the logistical, strategic, and tactical aspects of the conflict from a military studies perspective
